The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are a set of 17 interconnected goals defined by the United Nations as a strategy "to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all". They are also known as the 2030 Agenda, from the name of the document entitled Transforming our world. The 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, which recognises the close link between human well-being, the health of natural systems and the presence of shared challenges for all countries.

The goals of sustainable development aim to address a wide range of questions regarding economic and social development, which include poverty, hunger, the right to health and education, access to water and energy, work, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, climate change and protecting the environment, urbanization, patterns of production and consumption, social and gender equality, justice and peace.
