Nothing is wasted from cocoa!

Chocolate is not the only thing that is made with the cocoa plant, but also... energy. In fact, thanks to a Uniconfort boiler, an African company produces the steam required for toasting the seeds by burning the processing waste: the cocoa peels. A zero cost fuel that dramatically cuts the energy expense for the processing of this delicious food. This is an ideal solution for a company in the Ivory Coast, where cocoa farming is one of the pillars of economy.
This is the first experience in the world of application of solid biomass in the production processes of the cocoa industry. It is thanks to the Uniconfort technology, whichallows energy exploitation of production waste of the agricultural sector.

UNICONFORT LANDS IN AFRICA Restrained in its development by the very high energy costs, in 2014 an African company had addressed Uniconfort seeking for a solution. The processing of this food is in fact a process that requires a lot of energy. In particular for the toasting since it is necessary to maintain a temperature at 70 °C to 80 °C. Not only. The company was located in an area without pipelines and all the fuel had to be transported by road, with very high costs.

THE SOLUTION The designed boiler, manufactured and installed by Uniconfort, enhances energetically the cocoa peels, a material with a very high calorific value, and that previously had to be disposed of as waste. The plant is fed with 400 kg of biomass per hour, with a saving of 140 litres of diesel per hour, and produces at zero cost all the steam necessary for the toasting process.

The cutting of costs is about 300 thousand Euros per year, to which is also added the zero CO2
emissions, harmful to the environment
